Feed Items or Posts Not Importing - Meeting the Server & SimplePie Requirements
To ensure feed items are correctly imported by WP RSS Aggregator, or converted into WordPress posts using the Feed to Post add-on, you will need to ensure your server requirements are met for both our plugins and the SimplePie library which we use for parsing feeds.
Server Requirements
- The core plugin requires a minimum of WordPress 4.0 or higher, and PHP 5.4 or higher.
- The core plugin requires WP Cron to work in order to function correctly. The WP Cron is a task scheduler provided by your WordPress installation. If WP Cron is disabled or the cron tasks are stuck, WP RSS Aggregator will be unable to schedule tasks that fetch or update feeds.
The plugin uses the SimplePie library which is included in WordPress, meaning that the below requirements should also be met by the plugin. If you are unsure whether your server has everything you need, contact our support team here.
If you are unsure about any of the below, you can make use of the SimplePie Compatibility Test that is included in the SimplePie download.
SimplePie Minimum Requirements
- PHP 5.2 or higher
- PHP's XML extension (enabled by default)
- PHP's PCRE extension (enabled by default)
Recommended Requirements
- Ability to change file/folder permissions (dependent on how much access your host provides),
- Both PHP's multibyte string extension AND iconv extension
- PHP's cURL extension (disabled by default)
- PHP's Zlib extension (disabled by default)
- Understanding of object-oriented programming basics.
